‘X-Men’ Mutant Dania Ramirez Joining ‘Heroes’ Next Season
The Hit Series’ Newest Player Is a Veteran of Superpowers Already
Very nice casting, Tim Kring and company, especially when it comes to adding some always welcome diversity to the tube. Starting next season, Heroes, NBC’s lone rookie hit series from the 2006–2007 period, will gain a new “power” person when 26-year-old Dominican Republic-born actress Dania Ramirez joins the cast.
Although probably best known for her recent recurring role as Blanca Selgado (A.J.’s former flame) in HBO’s long-running mafia crime drama The Sopranos, Ramirez is no stranger whatsoever when it comes to superpowers and sci fi. Not only did she appear as the potential Slayer character named Caridad in a short story arc during the final days of teen cult favorite Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but she was also the super-agile, sensorially enhanced mutant Callisto in the third X-Men flick, X-Men: The Last Stand.
Ramirez should feel right at home in the role of Maya, which is rumored to be the only regular cast position among several players slated to debut in Heroes‘ sophomore season, most allegedly created in part specifically to give the series more ethnic, gender, and global flair. Sounds good to me. Welcome aboard, Dania!
