Bring It On

Broadcast television’s Fall 2010 season gets into full swing tonight, September 8, with the series premiere of The CW’s new college-cheerleader saga Hellcats.

The network bills the young adult-oriented series as a Memphis-based “coming-of-age story,” focused on aspiring lawyer Marti Perkins (Aly Michalka, Phil of the Future). After her college scholarship goes up in smoke unexpectedly, enterprising Marti decides to fund her higher education by joining her school’s renowned cheerleading squad.

Other Hellcats cast members include Matt Barr (Harper’s Island), Sharon Leal (Boston Public), Gail O’Grady (American Dreams), Ashley Tisdale (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody), and D.B. Woodside (24). The show’s 13-episode freshman season will air Wednesdays at 9pm ET as of this writing.

Previews Hellcats below to help decide if it deserves a spot on your fall watch list. I’m guessing I will probably pass — too fluffy for my tastes — but I’ll give the show a look-see anyway just to sample what it has to offer.
