The moment many Steven Spielberg fans have been waiting for is almost here: the two-hour premiere of his latest television show, Terra Nova at 8pm ET on Fox tonight, September 26.

The back-in-time adventure series stars Jason O’Mara (Life on Mars) as the head of the Shannon family. He decides to take the members on a trip to the prehistoric era (Yikes!) in order to save their fellow humans from doom. All together now: Good luck with that.

Also debuting on The CW tonight at 9pm is the new Rachel Bilson (The O.C.) medical drama Hart of Dixie. She portrays young doctor Zoe Hart, who winds up plying her trade in a small Alabama town after she loses out on a much-wanted fellowship.

Sneak peeks at both freshmen series follow. Although they’re very different thematically, the shows sound mildly interesting for now.

Actress Britt Robertson makes a swift rebound from her most recent canceled series, Life Unexpected, tonight, September 15. That’s when her new CW drama The Secret Circle debuts at 9pm ET, right after the third-season premiere of established hit The Vampire Diaries.

Once again occupying the lead role, Robertson portrays Cassie Blake. The teenager moves in with her grandmother in a Washington town called Chance Harbor after her mother dies under extremely suspicious circumstances.

Although she needs to recover from that tragedy, Cassie encounters only more weirdness when she begins hanging out with local teens. Her family and the entire town have a complicated, related past it seems, and Cassie is central to all of the drama, even if she doesn’t know why or how yet.

Also starring are former fellow Heroes cast members Ashley Crow and Thomas Dekker, Species star Natasha Henstridge, and Desperate Housewives alum Gale Harold. Sneak a peek at the show in the following extended clip, which provides a good overview of what to expect.

Lots of nostalgic Buffy the Vampire Slayers — yours truly included — are going to get some long-anticipated satisfaction tonight, September 13, when actress Sarah Michelle Gellar debuts in the lead role of the latest CW drama called Ringer. The big event happens at 9pm ET.

A more adult-oriented series than the network typically airs, Ringer focuses on recovering addict Bridget Kelly (Gellar). When she has the misfortune of witnessing a crime, Bridget wisely decides to get the heck out of wherever she is and flee to New York.

Bridget’s life only gets more complicated in the Big Apple, however, after she meets up with her wealthy estranged twin sister Siobhan Martin (also Gellar), who promptly vanishes just as the siblings begin to warm up to each other for once. What the…?!

Supporting characters surrounding Bridget as she attempts to figure out why her life is so darn weird include Siobhan’s husband Andrew Martin (Ioan Gruffudd, Fantastic Four), the Martins’ married close friends Gemma Butler (Tara Summers, Boston Legal) and Henry Butler (Kristoffer Polaha, Life Unexpected), and Bridget’s FBI ally Agent Victor Machado (Nestor Carbonell, Lost). This show should be lotsa fun, so check out a preview below to whet your appetite if it isn’t already stoked.

Also notable on September 13: The third-season premiere of NBC family drama Parenthood entitled “I Don’t Want to Do This Without You.”

I’m still thrilled CW super-series Smallville has lasted a good, long ten seasons, and now it’s time for fans of the entertaining drama to say goodbye. The show ends its excellent run tonight, May 13, at 8pm ET with a two-hour series finale guaranteed to leave longtime watchers feeling both satisfied and nostalgic.

The CW describes Smallville‘s last episodes as “epic,” and I’m inclined to believe the network. Not only does Tom Welling‘s Clark get down to business as he completes the requirements to become the Superman of legend, but fan favorite Michael Rosenbaum returns as Clark’s much-missed nemesis Lex Luthor. The two-part “Finale” finale features numerous other familiar and loved returning guest stars, as well, making the event about as Must See as TV can get.

Fans of highly entertaining CW action drama Nikita can finally get a fresh fix again tonight, April 7, at 9pm ET when the series returns for the spring with the new episode “Covenant.”

The latest installment is a big one, too. Not only does Nikita learn that Michael has discovered her big secret, but he blackmails her into doing something nearly impossible, or else he will get Alex in major trouble with nasty sociopath Percy. Uh-oh.

Preview “Covenant” in the following video and also catch up on what happened before the show’s hiatus began on February 25 in the second video. Nikita has just five episodes left in its first season after “Covenant” premieres, and if viewers are lucky, we’ll get to see them each week without further interruption.

The next fresh episode of new CW action series Nikita is the October 7 installment “The Guardian.”

Nikita encounters a rival worthy of her skills at last when a Division operative named Owen (Devon Sawa, Final Destination) goes on the lam. His escape motivates shady bossman Percy to conduct a search himself, instead of his usual routine of ordering underlings to do all the hard work, which eventually lands him in a standoff with both Nikita and Owen.

Meanwhile, the inevitable occurs back at Division when Alex finally gets busted as she attempts to contact her partner on the outside. However, fortunately for her — and ultimately Nikita, too — the person who catches her happens to be Thom, a guy who is obviously interested in Alex as more than just a training buddy.

Sneak a peek at “The Guardian” in the clip below, which features Nikita and Owen getting to know each other a little better. The new “Kill or Be Killed” episode of The Vampire Diaries airs before Nikita at 8pm ET.

Entertaining rookie CW action drama Nikita closes its first month on television with the fresh September 30 episode “Rough Trade.”

After the title character played by Maggie Q returns to a former case that required her to go undercover as a nanny for a now-deceased government official, Michael finally starts to question how his boss Percy operates. Meanwhile, back at the Division facility, Amanda attempts to cure Alex after she has a panic attack during training.

Preview several parts of “Rough Trade” in the behind-the-scenes sneak peek below. The Vampire Diaries precedes Nikita at 8pm ET with the new episode “Memory Lane.”

The CW introduces its new Friday-night lineup consisting of reliable dramas Smallville and Supernatural tonight, September 24, at 8pm ET.

Smallville is up first with “Lazarus,” the premiere episode of its tenth and final season, which features the return of Dukes of Hazzard vet John Schneider as Clark Kent’s much-missed father Jonathan. While Lois discovers Clark where we last saw him in the ninth-season finale and saves him, Chloe searches for Oliver and Tess ends up in a LuthorCorp facility.

Supernatural follows at 9pm with its sixth-season premiere Exile on Main Street,” which features the return of X-Files vet Mitch Pileggi as Dean and Sam’s grandfather Samuel. The episode fast forwards to a year after the previous season’s finale, when Sam breaks free from hell and then tries to convince Dean, who has turned his back on hunting, to reconsider leaving their old “profession.”

Also Returning on September 24

Former NBC paranormal drama Medium opens its seventh season at 8pm on CBS, followed by the seventh-season premiere of former Wednesday-night crime procedural CSI: NY at 9pm.

The first season of Fox crime dramedy The Good Guys, which debuted way back in May, ends a brief rerun break and resumes airing fresh episodes at 9pm.

Newsmagazine Dateline NBC begins Season 20 on NBC at 8pm with a two-hour premiere that investigates the strange disappearance of two teenage girls from California. Rookie Jimmy Smits legal drama Outlaw, which premiered on September 15, follows at 10pm with the first new episode in the show’s regular time slot.

In case you were wondering, The CW’s thoroughly entertaining new action series Nikita officially made my fall Must See list following the second episode last week. The next new episode of the series is tonight’s (September 23) cleverly titled “Kill Jill.”

Actress Julie Gonzalo, a former cast member of Eli Stone and Veronica Mars, guest stars as journalist Jill. When she makes the bold decision to expose Division’s ties to a major plane crash, someone else decides it’s time for her to die.

Luckily for Jill, Nikita comes to her rescue just when she needs rescuing most, and we can rest assured the rogue spy will also get the bad guys. Meanwhile, over at Division, the higher ups realize they have a mole, only they incorrectly believe the traitor is tech guy Birkhoff. Serves him right for being so obnoxious and full of himself.

Watch Jill get abducted and Nikita wield a very big gun in the “Kill Jill” sneak peek below. The brand-new “Bad Moon Rising” episode of paranormal series The Vampire Diaries precedes Nikita at 8pm ET.

New CW action-drama reboot Nikita really performed for the network ratings-wise during its September 9 series premiere, so lots of viewers will probably be tuning in to the fresh September 16 episode called simply “2.0.”

Now that we know new Division “recruit” Alex is actually a plant who has successfully infiltrated the clandestine agency in order to provide inside eyes for Nikita, what happens when she gets sent on her first official mission? Well, we’re about to find out when the Division puts Alex in the field earlier than she expected, which leads to a deadly encounter with tons of bullets.

Nikita faces danger, too, as she continues her mission to undermine the Division’s devious plans at every turn. Her latest venture involves interfering with Percy and Michael’s attempt to protect a Slavic leader tied to various war atrocities. Unfortunately, however, a crew of mercenaries with the same goal end up interfering with her plans before she can get the job done. A woman’s work is never easy, I tell ya.

Preview “2.0″ in the sneak peek below, which features useful commentary from series executive producers Danny Cannon and Craig Silverstein. Fans of The Vampire Diaries can also catch the fresh “Brave New World” episode of the drama at 8pm ET, right before Nikita.

Acquired-taste FX comedies It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League open their respective sixth and second seasons at 10pm and 10:30pm. Both seasons feature a total of 13 episodes, and, yes, I will be among the devoted watching.
