The July 2 Season Two finale of Syfy fantasy drama Merlin, “The Last Dragon Lord,” is almost upon us and it looks like the series has set the stage for a pretty intense episode.

After the Great Dragon is freed and attacks poor Camelot with all its got (which is a lot), Merlin and Arthur are tasked with locating the only person capable of stopping the creature’s havoc: the lone dragonlord (John Lynch, Bleak House) who managed to not get killed years ago due to Uther’s orders.

Hmmm… Wonder how Mr. Dragonlord will feel about the request for help since you know what they say about karma and all. Here’s hoping the boys track him down and convince him to assist; apparently, he’s just as important to Merlin as he is to Camelot.

FYI: Syfy will repeat the previous Merlin installment “The Fires of Idirsholas” immediately before the finale at 9pm.

Just one episode will remain in the current sophomore season of Syfy U.K. import Merlin after the new episode “The Fires of Idirsholas” airs on Friday, June 25.

During the next-to-last Season Two installment, devious sorcerer Morgause plots to put Camelot under a sleeping spell after calling the Knights of Medhir into play to help short-circuit Uther’s reign. Nasty.

Syfy’s Friday-night lineup is about to undergo some changes after Stargate Universe presents its first-season finale on June 11, followed by a fresh episode of Merlin.

Stargate Universe closes its successful rookie run at 9pm ET with the second part and conclusion of the previous episode “Incursion.” The Lucian Alliance’s failure to take control of Destiny leads to a hostage situation just as the vessel begins to malfunction because of its dangerous closeness to something called a binary pulsar.

Next at 10pm, Merlin presents “Sweet Dreams.” When Camelot serves as the setting for a so-called peace conference, one king in attendance tries to start trouble between Uther and another king named Olaf by casting a spell on Arthur to make him get the hots for Olaf’s daughter. I hope I’m not the only person who finds that funny.

Preview Stargate Universe‘s season finale and Merlin‘s new episode below. The United Kingdom import will remain in its 10pm time slot on Fridays following June 11 for the remaining three episodes in its sophomore season.

And to make this Friday even sweeter, Syfy will feature a well-timed all-day, 13-episode marathon of the later part of Stargate Universe‘s first season from 8am to the finale’s premiere at 9pm. How thoughtful and very much appreciated.

Syfy Friday-night series Stargate Universe and Merlin took a Memorial Day break last week, but both return on June 4 with fresh episodes.

Stargate Universe‘s latest installment is “Incursion” at 9pm ET. The first half of a two-parter — and, sorry, but you’ll have to wait a whole week for the conclusion, which doubles as the first-season finale — the episode focuses on the Lucian Alliance’s despicable behavior, which causes General O’Neill to stage a preliminary assault to protect the Destiny from the Lucian Alliance attacking first.

Merlin follows at 10pm ET with “The Lady of the Lake.” Lucky Merlin gets to save an attractive young woman from a bounty hunter and then decides to hide her in the grungiest place ever: passageways beneath Camelot, which could put the entire city in harm’s way.

Next up on Syfy’s fresh Friday-night lineup are the May 21 Stargate Universe episode “Subversion” and the Merlin episode “The Sins of the Father.”

During Stargate Universe at 9pm ET, Colonel Young, General O’Neill and Dr. Jackson investigate Colonel Telford, whom they suspect may be up to no good after Dr. Rush has a weird dream about the Lucian Alliance.

During Merlin at 10pm ET, Merlin and the prince discover something that could endanger Camelot’s existence after a warrior challenges Arthur to a duel.

Next up on the fresh May 14 Syfy Friday-night lineup is the Stargate Universe episode “Pain” at 9pm ET and the Merlin episode “The Witchfinder” at 10pm.

During Stargate Universe, a contagious bout of scary hallucinating afflicts the passengers onboard the Destiny, forcing Tamara Johansen to race for a cure before the situation spirals out of control and becomes deadly.

Merlin features an equally spooky plotline that focuses on Uther’s attempts to identify all of the witches in Camelot by hiring a so-called witchfinder (guest star Charles Dance of Bleak House).

Syfy’s fresh Friday-night fare on May 7 includes the new Stargate Universe episode “Sabotage,” followed by the conclusion of Merlin‘s two-part installment “Beauty and the Beast,” which began last Friday.

Life continues to be “challenging” — to put it mildly — for Destiny’s passengers during “Sabotage” at 9pm ET. They eventually have to avoid being set adrift by seeking the help of a past associate of Dr. Rush, a hyper drives wiz, in order to keep the vessel from running out of power.

Next at 10pm on the second part of Merlin‘s “Beauty and the Beast,” Catrina the troll, now the queen of Camelot, gains greater influence, including over Uther. She soon tries to get Merlin beheaded by accusing him of being a thief, which prompts Merlin to flee his home.

Coming up on Syfy tonight, April 30, are the new “Lost” episode of Stargate Universe and the “Beauty and the Beast” episode of Merlin.

“Lost” at 9pm ET finds Dr. Rush and Colonel Young scrambling to come up with a rescue plan after the Destiny leaves Chloe, Eli, Green, and Lieutenant Scott stranded in a maze below ground. If the pair don’t manage to rescue the group before the vessel departs from the galaxy, their fellow passengers will likely be doomed.

Merlin‘s 10pm episode “Beauty and the Beast” is the first of two parts. It revolves around poor unsuspecting Uther and Lady Catrina, the disguised and deceitful troll who gains his romantic interest.

The fresh April 23 episodes of Syfy Friday-night series Stargate Universe and Merlin are called “Human” and “Lancelot and Guinevere,” respectively.

During Stargate Universe‘s 9pm ET episode, Dr. Rush ignores orders and complicates things for Colonel Young when he attempts to control Destiny’s flight by accessing the vessel’s systems through the neural interface. Elsewhere, four other passengers explore yet another unfamiliar planet, specifically the ruins located beneath the planet’s surface.

During Merlin‘s 10pm episode, criminal Hengist holds both Gwen — whom he mistakenly believes is Morgana — and Lancelot captive, which forces Arthur to come to her rescue when Uther decides he’s not going to pay any ransom.

Sneak an early peek at both episodes below before they premiere tomorrow night. Stargate SG-1 veteran Michael Shanks reprises his role as Dr. Daniel Jackson on Stargate Universe‘s “Human,” as the first clip shows.

Two brand-new episodes of Syfy’s Friday-night series Stargate Universe and Merlin premiere at 9pm and 10pm ET, respectively, on April 16.

The latest installment of Stargate Universe is called “Faith.” Destiny’s crew and passengers get a massive shock when they explore a newly encountered planet and learn it has more food, sunshine, and water than they could have ever hoped. So, what’s the catch, mates? You know there has to be one — or two … or three — because luck like that doesn’t just happen for no reason in space.

Merlin follows with the intriguingly titled episode “The Nightmare Begins.” When Morgana starts to fear she has magical powers after her nightmares intrude on her real life (Yikes!), she relies on Gaius and the Druids for a little help and a lotta relief.
