Supernatural: ‘Mystery Spot’ Previews
On the February 14th Episode…
Sam Winchester gets an early taste of his older brother’s death when the siblings are caught up in a nightmarish, continually looping Groundhog Day-type plot.
The theme of a day repeating over and over until a character gets some unclear detail right has been done to death, especially in the science-fiction, horror, and fantasy genres. But, that doesn’t mean seeing the Winchester brothers’ take on the enigmatic plot device will be less interesting.
On the contrary, the fact that Supernatural is such a well-executed series will make me instantly forget about some of my favorite episodes in the same vein, such as the X-Files‘ captivating take on it in the 1999 bank-robbery gem “Monday.”
Check out a couple of preview scenes below from next week’s brand-new “Mystery Spot” episode of Supernatural, airing on the unlikely holiday of Valentine’s Day. There’s just one more fresh episode left afterwards, February 21st’s “Jus in Bello,” so we fans had better enjoy while we can.
