Jerry Springer Bouncer Steve Wilkos Recruits for His Own Forthcoming Talk Show
In my earlier college years, there was nothing I liked more than to waste my scarce free time on delightfully ridiculous daytime talk shows, such as those hosted by Phil Donahue, Geraldo Rivera, Sally Jessy Raphael, Jenny Jones, Montel Williams, and the most audacious one of them all, Jerry Springer. If you haven’t already heard, Springer’s longtime bouncer and professional “sit-your-ass-down”er, famously bald retired Chicago police officer Steve Wilkos, gained his own talk show to replace Sony Television’s recently canceled freshman failure The Greg Behrendt Show. I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m really looking forward to Wilkos’ outing because he’s always been my favorite thing about Springer’s fight club, I mean talk show, after the stupefyingly “out there” guests. That’s why I laughed aloud when I came across the following post in the TV/Video/Radio Jobs section of craigslist.com’s Boston subdomain:

The best part about this “job” is the compensation, “FREE All expense paid trip to Chicago.” That’s not bad for the lucky chosen few, especially since the writer was nice enough to leave out the worst part—get to make a fool of yourself on national TV and the Internet (due to the marvels of sites like YouTube) for the enjoyment of all throughout the rest of eternity. I was anticipating the show before, but now I’m downright antsy, both of which are unusual considering that I haven’t been eager about a daytime talk show since waaay back when Oprah got all Hallmark-y and celebrity-obsessed.
