‘Southland’ Receives Third Season
Hooray for Smart Networks and Good Shows

The most excellent news dropped earlier today: Wise basic-cable network TNT has opted to pick up a third season of NBC exile Southland after much speculation — and worrying among fans — given the crime drama’s so-so ratings.
Despite the mediocre Nielsen numbers, the series will present at least ten episodes during its third run, which is four more than its too-short sophomore season contained.
Said TNT Executive Vice President and Head of Programming Michael Wright:
Southland is a challenging, visceral show that engages viewers with its immersive style, provocative storylines and complex characters. These qualities have made Southland a favorite among critics and appointment viewing for an extremely loyal audience.
I heartily concur. Now fans may go forth and rejoice (including me).
