So Long, ‘Painkiller Jane’

The “Endgame” Is Here

Painkiller Jane She came, she aired, she underwhelmed, and now she’s almost over.

What began as an unexpectedly entertaining Sci Fi Saturday-Night Original Movie, 2005′s Painkiller Jane starring Canadian hottie Emmanuelle Vaugier, was twisted beyond recognition into the deplorably awful original TV series of the same name featuring American Amazon Kristanna Loken. But tonight, the Sci Fi Channel finally shows mercy by putting long-suffering viewers out of their misery, at least in part. While “Endgame,” the series finale of the lesser Painkiller Jane, premieres at 10pm EST, it will still be preceded at 9pm by the network’s equally scorned reimagination of another popular comic-book hero, Flash Gordon.

The final installment of Jane finds our magically self-healing heroine switching sides in the continual Neuro battle. Notably filmed in Budapest, Hungary, as opposed to the customary shooting site in British Columbia, Canada, the series finale revolves around the aftermath of a tragic incident at the NICO headquarters that results in the most dangerous Neuros breaking free. Jane then experiences a breakout of her own when she becomes convinced that the people she thought were supporting her were actually lying to her all along. That’s enough to make any criminal-hunting, indestructible superhuman pissed, and I hope she and her series go out with a couple of bangs and a slew of dead bodies to boot.

  1. Ding dong, the old Painkiller Jane [the series] is dead.

    Dead with a capital a D.

And hopefully, Flash Gordon will be accorded a swift execution as well.
