‘Smallville’ Casts Yet Another Supergirl
Former Clark Kent Cousin Now an Aunt
Variety reports that the sixth episode of Smallville‘s forthcoming seventh season will feature a special guest star who’s intimately familiar with the Supergirl storyline. Actress Helen Slater (City Slickers), who portrayed Clark Kent’s Kryptonian cousin Kara in the 1984 feature flick cleverly titled Supergirl, will come onboard to briefly play the aunt of the series’ new Supergirl, a role recently cast with Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort. As Variety notes, Slater’s appearance will occur two episodes after former small-screen Superman Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) stops by to breathe evilness into a villainous doctor intent on eradicating meteor freaks.
Considering that former silver-screen Superman Christopher Reeve and Lois Lane actress Margot Kidder have also put in guest stints on the show, who’s next? Perhaps Gene Hackman as Lex and Lionel Luthor’s long lost fourth cousin removed? Or, better yet, Hackman as Lionel’s father—and Lex’s grandfather—back from the dead and come to haunt his male lineage into even more, crazier misdeeds? Don’t I wish…
