‘Six Degrees’ Slated to Return in March

ABC Announces the Series’ Comeback for the Spring 2007 Season

Bridget Moynahan Good news emerged from TV Land today for fans of Bridget Moynahan, the actress who made news headlines in an entirely different way earlier this week. It all started when New York Post gossip legend Liz Smith dropped the news—or should I say “bomb,” as far as the daddy-to-be’s camp seems concerned?—just this past Sunday that the 36-year-old Massachusetts-bred actress is over three months pregnant by her ex-boyfriend of two years, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, currently romantically linked to Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen. Oh, those celebs and their overly publicized personal business!

Six Degrees ABC’s announcement today was—thankfully—much less gossipy in nature, namely that the network plans to return Moynahan’s yanked Fall-2006 series Six Degrees to the schedule at 9pm EST on Friday, March 23. The last episode of the struggling rookie show, number six of thirteen ordered thus far, premiered on November 2, leaving many wondering during the lengthy time since if it would ever make it back on air. That general feeling of unease was not helped in the least by the network’s broken November 8 promise that the show would actually return in January 2007, which did not happen, of course.

Although the situation doesn’t look too rosy in light of ABC’s prior actions, you never know. This is network television, after all, where shows that are continuously slammed by critics occasionally flourish (Criminal Minds anyone?) and vice versa (How’s that new 10pm timeslot for Lost working out? Not too well, you say?). Given the following the New York-based ensemble drama managed to establish among those who appreciate the distinctive interconnected plot and the work of Moynahan and her talented castmates Erika Christensen, Hope Davis, Jay Hernandez, Dorian Missick, and Campbell Scott, Six Degrees has the tiniest potential to survive *if* viewers turn up in unprecedented numbers to give the ratings a really, really big boost. Otherwise, fans should just remain grateful for the opportunity to see additional episodes on their TV’s screen instead of the one on their computer.
