Season One Over for ‘Melrose Place’

Another CW Bubble Show Bids Adieu

Melrose Place

Melrose Place, The CW’s latest unnecessary re-imagination of a long-gone teenybopper show, closes its rookie season tonight, April 13, with the finale “Wilshire.” Your guess is as good as mine if the episode will wind up being a mere season finale or the “Big One” that brings the entire series to an end.

I’ve recorded every episode of the drama since the fall, along with its 8pm lead-in 90210, but I have yet to watch a single second of either retread. I’m saving them both for the dog days of summer, when I get so bored I’ll watch almost anything, although I did catch 90210‘s whole freshman season for work purposes and considered it passable.

So, that’s my excuse for why I have no idea who’s who or what’s what on Melrose Place. The CW says Amanda and Ellen will get it on, blackmail- and catfight-style, leaving only one of them victorious and the other in really bad shape.

Elsewhere, a couple of broken-up couples become couples again, which inspires an envious chick named Morgan to endanger the life of the coupled woman named Lauren.

The women aren’t the only people who play dirty during the finale, however. After Drew gets in Michael’s way before a risky surgical procedure, Michael seeks revenge by setting Drew up to get busted on drug charges. Nasty!

And last but (I suppose) not least, Sydney also returns unexpectedly.

Sneak two peeks at “Wilshire” below before the episode premieres at 9pm ET. If you’re a fan, make sure to watch, too, because it might be your last chance before the series is banished to DVD Land — and SOAPnet, if you’re lucky — forever.
