Sarah Silverman Lands ‘MTV Movie Awards’ Hosting Gig
Raunchy Funny Girl to Preside Over the Annual Film-Industry Event
Comedy Central Queen Bee Sarah Silverman is set to use her considerable comedic skills while overseeing MTV’s new and improved 2007 MTV Movie Awards, slated to air live for the first time on June 3 from the Gibson Theater in Universal City. Produced by Mark Burnett of Survivor and The Apprentice reality-TV fame, the special will be accompanied by a full-fledged online campaign to increase its audience reach. Silverman, of course, is the veteran comic who experienced immense (and occasionally controversial) success on television earlier this year with her hit new quirky half-hour comedy series, titled simply The Sarah Silverman Program, which was renewed for a second season before the third episode in the first season even aired. Some girls get all the lucky breaks.
