‘Persons Unknown’ Winds Down
Supersized Sendoff

Axed NBC serial mystery Persons Unknown draws to a close tonight, August 28, at 8pm ET with a two-hour, double-episode series finale.
The first episode is called “And Then There Was One.” In the unidentified town, the members of the group get the shock of their lives when (1) their supplies vanish into thin air and then (2) they realize that Ulrich is of no use whatsoever when he’s needed. As if the second part shouldn’t have been obvious as soon as he showed up. Meanwhile, Renbe and Kat get even closer to unraveling The Program after a medical examiner provides some critical information.
The series finale proper is “Shadows in the Cave” at 9pm ET. As impossible as it seems, the kidnapped group finally manages to escape. However, returning to their old lives is predictably difficult, especially since The Program still wants them in The Program.
If you didn’t know, NBC pulled a fast one on, I suspect, many viewers by making the most recent episode of Persons Unknown available online only at Hulu and NBC’s website following last Saturday’s broadcast. You can check out the installment, which is called “Seven Sacrifices,” below.
To view the series in strict order, you should watch the online episode before the two-hour finale. I won’t miss the show after it’s gone — mostly thanks to the weak later episodes — but it was enjoyable enough while it lasted.
