‘Persons Unknown’ Moves to Saturdays

The Burn-Off Begins

Persons Unknown

If you — like me — were enjoying NBC’s new atmospheric suspense drama Persons Unknown before the network stopped airing it on Monday nights last week, then you should know the series returns to the tube, tonight, July 17, in its new Saturdays at 8pm ET time slot. And, yes, you read that correctly: Saturdays.

The Weekend Wasteland relocation makes it clear NBC is displeased with Persons Unknown‘ ratings and has no intention of renewing the show. So, fans should probably just concentrate on savoring the remaining seven installments in the 13-episode series and be thankful they’re making it all the way to the small screen at all … at least as of now. Who can predict if NBC will yank the series again before its currently scheduled September 4 finale?

The first Saturday-night episode of Persons Unknown is called “The Truth.” Poor Joe suddenly becomes very sick, causing the kidnapped group of unknown persons to grow understandably agitated. Their pain is nowhere near as great as Joe’s, however, when he realizes Erika has a cure for what ails him, which she won’t share unless he reveals the secret he’s been hiding. Talk about blackmail.

Meanwhile, back in the relatively normal world, Renbe and Kat learn that Tori’s Ambassador to Italy father is investigating her mysterious disappearance when they go to her funeral in Rome. Maybe daddy has the clout to get things rolling faster than they have been.

Check out a promo for “The Truth” below. I’m baffled that this pretty interesting show isn’t performing better. Maybe the NBC “curse” is at work once more.
