OnTV: ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Takes a Break
Third-Season Fall Finale on the Horizon
Sci Fi’s Battlestar Galactica has had a somewhat odd half-season in the past few months. Widely hailed as *the* best show on U.S. television in any genre, it still suffered a ratings decline that put some fans on edge. Then there was additional grumbling over the quality of certain episodes, most notably the boxing-fixated “Unfinished Business,” as if a top series is not allowed to have an occasional less-than-stellar installment. Next came news that when the show returns for the second half of its current third season in January 2007, its time slot will move from Friday nights at 10pm EST to Sunday nights at 10pm EST. And let’s not even discuss the show’s lack of a major nomination for the recently unveiled 64th Golden Globe Awards fest.
All of these real or perceived issues aside, Battlestar is still a show not to be missed, and tonight marks the debut of the third-season fall finale, “The Eye of Jupiter,” the first of a two-parter. If that’s not enough, viewers can also catch up on the first eight episodes of Season 3 during Tuesday’s eight-hour marathon, from 8am EST until 4pm EST. Another full half-season marathon of all eleven episodes aired thus far is now scheduled for 8am EST to 7pm EST on Monday, January 15, as well.
