OnTV 12-23: Julie’s Magical Musical Sounds
The Tube Is Alive with The Sound of Music
Christmas is just two days away. Another holiday season, another broadcasting of the legendary, Oscar-winning Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music. Based on the actual true story of the actual real von Trapp family as depicted in Maria von Trapp’s book The Story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, The Sound of Music never loses its appeal, especially with a cast helmed by the magnificent Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. I was already an adult before I saw the musical the first time, but it says a lot that I knew all of the words to several of its signature songs long before then. If you’ve never had the opportunity to watch the film, you can give it a go tonight on ABC at 8pm EST. I, for one, have already started humming “Edelweiss,” my favorite song from the movie, and will probably continue doing so all day long and well into next week.
