‘Office’ Actress Jenna Fischer Suffers Broken Back
A Fall Down the Stairs Results in Four Fractures
In timing that is almost surreal, 33-year-old The Office star Jenna Fischer, who portrays fan favorite Pam Beesly on the award-winning hit NBC sitcom, fell down a marble staircase while wearing high-heeled shoes during Monday’s NBC upfront presentation in New York and broke her lower back in four places. She currently remains in the city, with co-star Angela Kinsey (Angela on the show) and her actor-filmmaker husband James Gunn doting on her (I’m sure) until she’s strong enough to return home to Los Angeles.
The event is odd not only because of its severity, but because The Office happens to have its special one-hour third-season finale tonight. Fortunately for the cast, the accident occurred after filming for this season was complete and also well in advance of the next season’s scheduled date to begin shooting. Fischer, whose recovery should be complete in four to six weeks, will certainly be back in top form by that time.
