November 2007 Sweeps – Day 23: ‘Numb3rs’ Gets a Guest from the Past

Taxi Colleagues Reunite for Comics

Christopher Lloyd and Judd Hirsch/Taxi

Does CBS have something great in store for comedy and crime drama fans tonight! Guest starring on the popular FBI procedural Numb3rs is the one and only Christopher Lloyd of Back to the Future fame.

As older and/or savvier TV fans know, Lloyd co-starred with Numb3rs cast member Judd Hirsch on the seminal late-1970s to early-1980s sitcom Taxi. Hirsch played the put-upon but levelheaded Alex Reiger, while Lloyd took on the role of the severely spaced-out Reverend Jim Ignatowski. The Numb3rs reunion is extra special because it marks the first time the pair have appeared onscreen together since those golden days.

On tonight’s “Graphic,” Lloyd will channel another character that doesn’t seem too farfetched given his penchant for bringing loopy personalities to life. The three-time Emmy winner portrays Ross Moore, a comic book writer who somehow ends up in the midst of a robbery gone deathly wrong.

And, if that’s not enough cause for excitement, former Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Wil Wheaton—he played Wesley Crusher during the spinoff’s first four seasons—also appears as Miles Sklar, the comic book collector who owns the vintage copy from Moore’s comic-book series that gets stolen during the botched theft. Yummy.
