November 2007 Sweeps – Day 18: ‘The Simpsons’ Calls It a Season
Animated Animosity Abounds
The dysfunctional Simpsons family bows out tonight with two conflicts, one for the younger generation and another for the older one. A war of comical proportions breaks out when Bart, Lisa, and Milhouse tick off the Comic Book Guy after they begin patronizing another comics store. Called Coolsville, the new shop is run by a guy named Milo who happens to sound just like Jack Black.
Meanwhile, daddy Homer has some major worries of his own brought on by his wife Marge’s sudden decision that she needs to get toned and buff. Unfortunately, when her new gym for average women becomes a hit with all of the ladies, ever-suspicious Homer gets it in his head that he must do something drastic to prevent his wife from falling for a younger, better-looking man. If we’re lucky, the 19th season will return to this storyline again.
Other Day 18 Events
- ABC
- 2007 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS—Broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre, the 35th annual event will feature Jimmy Kimmel hosting for the fourth time and winners selected by online votes instead of a nationwide poll for the first. [8pm EST]
- Fox
- FAMILY GUY—Tonight’s “Padre de Familia” is the first of several episodes that Fox intends to air, reportedly without the approval of series creator and main voice artist Seth MacFarlane. As showrunner, MacFarlane stopped working on the series the very first day of the current writers strike, November 5, and he doesn’t intend to return anytime soon. On the plus side for those who do watch despite MacFarlane’s clear stance, entertainment icons Phyllis Diller and Carrie Fisher both lend their voices. [9pm EST]
- HBO
- MAYWEATHER/HATTON 24/7—This four-episode reality series consisting of half-hour installments presents behind-the-scenes events as welterweight boxers Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton get ready to take each other on in a scheduled December 8 bout. [10pm EST]
- Sci Fi Channel
- BEYOND THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD: THE MAKING OF TIN MAN—The mini-series Tin Man premieres on December 2, but interested viewers can get a behind-the-scenes first look during this special about the filming of the three-part movie loosely based on the classic film The Wizard of Oz. [11:30pm EST]
