November 2007 Sweeps - Day 15: So Long, ‘CSI’ Jorja and ‘The Office’
Hello Luka, Mo’Nique, and Mrs. Soprano
Tonight’s TV is bursting with good times and bad. On the latter, depressing count, original character Sara Sidle and the actress who plays her, Jorja Fox, will be making a long-dreaded exit from the signature CBS crime procedural CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after seven-plus seasons. That happens at 9pm EST on the episode “Goodbye & Good Luck.”
Meanwhile, over on NBC, the network’s signature comedy The Office will air its last remaining original episode for this season at the same time. After most of the cast, including star Steve Carell, and showrunner Greg Daniels refused to cross the picket line when the writers strike began last Monday, the sitcom became the very first television series to shutdown production. Enjoy this fall’s final installment, “The Deposition,” knowing that this is one show whose cast members have strong consciences.
Other Day 15 Events
- ABC
- UGLY BETTY—Hilarious Mo’Nique arrives to play Mode magazine’s weekend receptionist. Unfortunately for clueless Henry, however, she’s super sweet on him. [8pm EST]
- WOMEN’S MURDER CLUB—Sorry, dudes—no Big Shots tonight. Instead, Friday night’s winning rookie procedural is giving the time slot a spin. Guesting is star Angie Harmon’s real-life husband, NFL player Jason Sehorn. I predict decent, if not impressive, ratings for the ladies. [10:02pm EST]
- CBS
- WITHOUT A TRACE—Facts of Life veteran Nancy McKeon guest stars as the mother of a college student who goes missing. A college student? Boy, am I (and Nancy) getting old. [10pm EST]
- The CW
- SMALLVILLE—Former Supergirl Helen Slater puts in her last appearance as Clark Kent’s Kryptonian mother, Lara-El.
- SUPERNATURAL—I’ve got one word: Vamps. If that’s not enough reason to watch, what more can I say? Okay. Maybe I should add that Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel alum Mercedes McNab is on hand (she was just on The CW’s Reaper recently, too, playing evil again), as well as Sterling K. Brown of Lifetime’s hit military drama Army Wives.[9pm EST]
- FX
- IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA—It’s the third-season finale, and the gang gets themselves into a pickle with a dance competition. Can you imagine those guys trying to dance? That possibility alone guarantees lots of laughs. [10pm EST]
- Fox
- ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER?—Former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler shows she’s a good sport as she battles a bevy of fifth-graders. I predict the kiddies will triumph. [8pm EST]
- NBC
- 30 ROCK—Sopranos alumna Edie Falco begins her multi-episode arc as a new romantic interest for Alec Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy. The catch? She’s a Democrat and he’s a Republican. I predict no future for the two but a very funny present. [8:30pm EST]
- ER—Luka’s back from Croatia, so get out your hankie’s for his reunion with his troubled wife Abby. [10:01pm EST]
