Comic-y Goodness
Monday | June 30
46664: A Concert for Nelson Mandela: Will Smith hosts this celebration in honor of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday and 466664, his HIV/AIDS charity with a name identical to his former prison number. [9pm EST/VH1]
The Middleman: I’ve no idea why, but ABC Family is relocating this summer sci-fi charmer to the 10pm hour. I just hope the series doesn’t lose a chunk of its target audience during the move. [10pm EST/ABC Family]
Tuesday | July 1
The Secret Life of the American Teenager: An instant candidate for the newest show with the longest name, this young-adult drama revolves around a high school student who learns she’s pregnant. A big bonus is star Molly Ringwald, of ’80s Brat Pack fame. [8pm EST/ABC Family]
Hell’s Kitchen: The competition is down to the last two colossally incompetent “chefs.” I can’t wait to find out who the winner is so I’ll know to stay far, far away from any restaurant they ever work in. [9pm EST/Fox]
Wednesday | July 2
The Baby Borrowers: The reality series about young adults who think they’re ready to have a child and start a family moves to its new time slot. [9pm EST/NBC]
Thursday | July 3
Fear Itself: How can this one not be good when it features a spookie bad guy called The Eater? Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men, Invasion, The West Wing) stars. [10pm EST/NBC]
Friday | July 4
Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular: Save a few fingers and celebrate the Fourth of July with this annual tradition from New England. It’s even prettier in person, but on television is a respectable substitute. [10pm EST/CBS]
The 2008 Hero Awards: An event in honor of those who give of themselves and their money to others in need. [8pm EST/MyNetworkTV]
Saturday | July 5
A Gunfighter’s Pledge: C. Thomas Howell and Luke Perry headline this original movie set in the wild, wild West. And, yes — they play cowboys. [9pm EST/Hallmark]
Sunday | July 6
I Love Money: So do I, but I don’t go around making reality TV shows about it. This one features people who have appeared previously on Rock of Love, I Love New York, and Flavor of Love, three very excellent reasons not to watch. [9pm EST/VH1]
NOTE: All times are Eastern Standard Time (EST)
