Notable TV (May 4 – May 10)
Extra-Medium Monday

Monday | May 4
Deal or No Deal: Get ready for more Howie Mandel and models with briefcases! The popular game show returns from hiatus to complete its fourth season.
[NBC, 8pm]
Medium: Now that Heroes has wrapped up its third season, Patricia Arquette‘s Emmy-winning paranormal drama is free to present a two-part episode in its entirety. Fans are going to love not having to wait a whole week for the conclusion — I know I would. And, in case you’re wondering, NBC has already wisely renewed the series for a sixth season.
[How to Make a Killing in Big Business, Parts 1 and 2, NBC, 9pm]
Roommates: The original comedy airs an early series finale, following the network’s swift cancellation decision and two nights of two-hour marathons. Three new episodes precede, beginning at 9pm. At least the Powers That Be were kind enough to let fans see every installment produced for the 13-episode season. Not all viewers are so lucky when it comes to yanked shows.
[The Old and the New, ABC Family, 10:30pm]
Tuesday | May 5
NCIS: The two-part backdoor pilot for the potential spinoff concludes. Could CBS have promoted these two very special episodes any less? What’s up with that, I wonder.
[Legend, Part 2, CBS, 8pm]
Better Off Ted: One of television’s best new sitcoms calls it a season, but hopefully not a series, as well. If you haven’t checked out this truly quirky and quite entertaining workplace comedy starring Desperate Housewives‘ Jay Harrington as the title character and Arrested Development‘s Portia de Rossi as his wacky boss — just two of five talented regulars — please do yourself a favor before ABC sticks a fork in it. The show needs all the ratings boosts it can get.
[Get Happy, ABC, 8:30pm]
Wednesday | May 6
Scrubs: This two-part, hourlong episode stuffed with several dozen past guest stars was supposed to be the series finale, until ABC got other ideas. We’ll know for sure sometime later this Upfront month.
[My Finale, Parts 1 and 2, ABC, 8pm]
Thursday | May 7
Grey’s Anatomy: The five-seasons-old medical drama turns 100, or at least it reaches the milestone 100th episode. To celebrate, Merder will allegedly get married during an elaborate wedding planned by cancer-stricken Izzie. How do you say “overblown”? Prepare to pull out the hankies anyway.
[What a Difference a Day Makes, ABC, 9pm]
Michael J. Fox: Adventures of an Incurable Optimist: The Family Ties fan favorite wanders the world to chat hope and strength with diverse people during this hourlong special.
[ABC, 10:02pm]
Friday | May 8
Everybody Hates Chris: The CW is now only interested in viewers who are both teenagers and girls, so it’s probably time to say goodbye to this endearing, original, and very funny family comedy following the fourth-season finale. May Chris Rock and Company engage with a more mature network next time.
[Everybody Hates G.E.D., The CW, 8pm]
Dollhouse: As much as I wanted to love this Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku collaboration, “too little, too late” comes to mind at this stage. The first season concludes with a thrilling Alpha-oriented finale, but the real question is whether or not Fox will bring the series back for a sophomore run. To be honest, given the network’s ax-happy history, I’m surprised the Dolls were able to hang around this long. Small pleasures, people.
[Omega, Fox, 9:01pm]
Sunday | May 10
Cold Case: Not only is this the crime drama’s sixth-season (and possible series) finale, but the action will feature a background soundtrack with sixteen Pearl Jam tunes. Nice, especially if you love the Seattle-centric rockers.
[Into the Blue, CBS, 9pm]
The Unit: The military drama is yet another candidate for a season finale that could double as a series finale. At least it will go out with a bang in the latter case, thanks to a plot that revolves around preventing three groups of dirty bombs from exploding. “Good luck with that” seems like an appropriate comment.
[Unknown Soldier, CBS, 10pm]
Brothers & Sisters: It’s doubtful this Emmy-winning drama is going anywhere, so settle in to see the Walker family coping with troublesome member Tommy, who may exit his relatives’ lives forever because the actor who plays him, Balthazar Getty, decided to cheat on his wife Rosetta Millington with English actress Sienna Miller in real life. Of course, the network claims that has nothing to do with the Charmed and Alias alum’s probable departure, to which we say “Sure.”
