Notable TV (Apr 20 – Apr 26)
It’s Unusuals!

Monday | April 20
Surviving Suburbia: This dangerously unfunny sitcom is notable because it’s still here. Couldn’t star Bob Saget find something better?
[DMV, ABC, 9:32pm]
Castle: Yes, I am totally digging Nathan Fillion‘s new crime dramedy, although I admit it won’t be receiving any acclaim anytime soon. On the latest installment, exceedingly patient NYPD detective Kate Beckett gets schooled in author Richard Castle’s hoity-toity wealthy world after a socialite is found murdered. Guaranteed to be tons of fun.
[Home Is Where the Heart Stops, ABC, 10:02pm]
Tuesday | April 21
The Unusuals: Viewers are treated to a double dose of another one of my favorite new crime dramedies — seems to be a lot of them making it to TV now, right? — this week, on Tuesday and during its regular Wednesday time slot. Nice network. Next up is “Crime Slut,” which is the undisputed winner of my award for best episode title of the week.
[One Man Band, ABC, 10:02pm]
Wednesday | April 22
Lost: The supernatural island drama has a special all about the Oceanic 6, and the creators promise it will satisfy longtime viewers and newcomers alike.
[The Story of the Oceanic 6, ABC, 9pm]
South Park: It’s time for a 13th midseason break.
[Comedy Central, 10pm]
Thursday | April 23
The Beast: Patrick Swayze‘s gritty FBI crime drama ends its freshman season with no renewal for a second one announced. I stopped watching halfway through because the show didn’t deliver what it seemed to advertise; I’ll catch up later during a marathon or on DVD.
[No Turning Back, A&E, 10pm]
Friday | April 24
Dollhouse: The Sarah Connor Chronicles might be gone (hopefully, not forever), but Joss Whedon‘s latest creation returns after a week off with a super twisted plot: Echo must solve her own murder. Yikes!
[Haunted, Fox, 9:01pm]
Saturday | April 25
Streisand: Live in Concert: Babs performs, but only for an hour.
[CBS, 8pm]
Sunday | April 26
2009 TV Land Awards: And, just when you thought (and hoped and prayed) awards season was over, here comes another special featuring lots of celebrities and tiny, shiny baubles.
[TV Land, 8pm]
