Notable TV (Apr 13 – Apr 19)
More Bones for the People

Monday | April 13
Saving Grace: Season Two closes with a potential execution and Grace’s discovery of a possible additional person on her last-chance angel Earl’s list. I didn’t care for this Oklahoma City-based cop drama at all when it first debuted, but it has slowly and surely grown on me.
[I Believe in Angels, TNT, 10pm]
Chuck: Fast & Furious star Jordana Brewster reprises her role as the title character’s college ex-girlfriend Jill Roberts, who also happens to be a member of the wicked Fulcrum cabal. Brewster did good her first few times on the series earlier this season, so expect no less during this episode. Quantum Leap veteran Scott Bakula is back, as well, to play Daddy Bartowski.
[Chuck Versus the First Kill, NBC, 8pm]
Tuesday | April 14
According to Jim: And you thought it was canceled, like, five years ago, right? Ha! Season Eight resumes with guest star and prior George Lopez lead actress Constance Marie, whom we are to believe is a former flame of Jim’s (the character). Whatever they say… A second episode directed by Laverne & Shirley icon Penny Marshall follows.
[The Ego Boost/The Yoga Bear, ABC, 8pm & 8:30pm]
Wednesday | April 15
Bones: Who doesn’t want more Team Brennan and Booth, especially when it includes Blossom actress Mayim Bialik as a guest star? This episode preempts the normally scheduled Lie to Me, which returns to its time slot next week. Better still, another fresh installment of Bones airs the very next day at the procedural’s regular time of 8pm.
[The Cinderella in the Cardboard, Fox, 8pm]
Smith: In the wake of the botched heist during the premiere, the members of Bobby’s gang of merry thieves find their lives becoming increasingly complicated … and uncomfortable.
[Two, DirecTV 101 Network and DirecTV on DEMAND, 10pm]
Thursday | April 16
Harper’s Island: Was last Thursday’s premiere as good for you as it was for me? If so, next up on the second episode are a scavenger hunt and some haunting by deranged deceased serial killer John Wakefield, hopefully both at the same time. Sounds fantastic.
[Crackle, CBS, 10pm]
Friday | April 17
Prison Break: Dollhouse takes a week off for the jailbird series’ return, and the show will lead in to the Joss Whedon creation next Friday. A repeat of the last fresh episode, December 22nd’s “The Sunshine State,” precedes at 8pm to help refresh memories, which viewers are definitely going to need after a four-month hiatus. What is up with networks and these ridiculously long lulls?
[The Mother Lode, Fox, 9pm]
Saturday | April 18
Kings: The rookie says hello to its new death slot. I feel bad for the cast and crew already.
[Judgment Day, NBC, 8pm]
Sunday | April 19
Sit Down, Shut Up: The latest animated series to hit America’s airwaves is based on an Australian live-action program and filled with famous voices belonging to familiar entertainers, such as Pushing Daisies‘ Kristin Chenoweth, Saturday Night Live‘s Cheri Oteri, Arrested Development‘s Will Arnett and Jason Bateman, and Cavemen‘s Nick Kroll. :) Sorry — I couldn’t resist the last one.
[Pilot, Fox, 8:30pm]
Knights of Bloodsteel: Sci Fi Channel premieres its first miniseries since the 2007 production Tin Man, which received an Emmy for Outstanding Makeup and eight additional nominations, including for Outstanding Miniseries. The two-part, four-hour sword-and-sorcery event, which was formerly titled Mirabilis, stars JAG‘s David James Elliott, Natassia Malthe of Fallen and Elektra, and three-time Emmy winner Christopher Lloyd (Taxi, Back to the Future). I’ll have a review once I finish watching the advance copy I received.
[Sci Fi Channel, 9pm - Concludes Monday, April 20, at 9pm]
Law & Order: Criminal Intent: I cannot believe it has taken this long, but the best L&O flavor finally begins its eighth season after several canceled premiere dates. Of note is new series star Jeff Goldblum, who replaces Chris Noth. His character, Detective Zack Nichols, will partner with Julianne Nicholson‘s Detective Megan Wheeler, and an advance review is coming before the Big Day.
[Playing Dead, USA Network, 9pm]
In Plain Sight: The witness protection “slash” U.S. Marshal dramedy returns following an enormously successful freshman run. It’s not the best that USA has to offer, but I like it. An advance review of this episode is on the way, as well.
