New ‘Bionic Woman’ Teaser Trailer :: video|jot

Dark and Intense Is the Name of the Game

Michelle Ryan/Bionic Woman Each week, I receive leads on tons of video footage for all sorts of programs. From now on, I’ll be sharing the best and/or most interesting of those clips through regular video|jot posts.

First up is a show that I am personally really, really looking forward to, NBC’s well-promoted and eagerly anticipated reimagination called—as I’m sure you already know—Bionic Woman. Not only is this teaser trailer fresh (at least as of Monday, when I first learned of it), but it’s accompanied by an equally shiny, squeaky clean, fully functional Web site at NBC. Current and potential fans of the show will definitely want to check out both the teaser and the site for advance information on what has the potential to become a spectacular NBC signature series.

Although the original pilot will have to be refilmed and reedited in certain segments now that the role of Jaime Somers’ younger sister has been recast with Lucy Hale, who replaces original cast member Mae Whitman, if the overall episode remains anywhere near the earlier version, it’s going to not only please but absolutely thrill a large number of viewers. The first version was that good, despite a few issues with overly busy camera work during action scenes and occasionally sappy, too loud background music. I’m particularly surprised at how well British actress Michelle Ryan plays the title character Jaime Sommers and makes me actually buy her in the role. All in all, the show seems to be a nice effort from everyone involved, and I, for one, can’t wait for more.

Bionic Woman stars Michelle Ryan (EastEnders, Jekyll) as Jaime Sommers, Chris Bowers (Rescue Me) as Will Anthros, Miguel Ferrer (Crossing Jordan) as Jonas Bledsoe, Lucy Hale (American Juniors) as Becca Sommers, Will Yun Lee (Fallen, Witchblade) as Jae Kim, Molly Price (Third Watch) as Ruth Treadwell, and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) as Sarah Corvus.

The series will debut Wednesday, September 26, at 9pm EST, with a pilot instant replay on the Sci Fi Channel scheduled for Friday, September 28, at 7pm EST.
