NBC’s Fall Freshmen Series Live Online
Teaser Web Sites Are Now Accessible and Filled with Good Stuff
Viewers can usually always find something negative to say about television networks, especially when they take away your favorite shows. NBC, currently in fourth place among the major broadcast networks despite a strong summer showing on the backs of reality and newsmagazine offerings, is no different. There’s one thing I must give the Peacock credit for, though, and that’s having the good sense to hire competent Web developers and designers to create some of the most informative, user-friendly, and visually appealing TV-show Web sites around.
The fall season doesn’t officially begin on NBC until Monday, September 24, with the one-two-three sci-fi combo of Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman. Fans can begin getting a close-up feel for the new series right this very moment, however, because the network recently introduced so-called teaser sites for the rookie fall entrants Bionic Woman, Chuck, Life, and Journeyman, as well as the highly anticipated midseason replacement Lipstick Jungle.
Click over to the sites below and you’ll find a wealth of synopses, photo galleries, video previews, wallpaper and IM buddy icon downloads, cast and character profiles, community features, and assorted extra-special extras. The last would be a quick quiz for Journeyman, an interactive and fully functioning New York City Shopping Guide map for Lipstick Jungle, and a super amusing and time-wasting suite of online games—or rather click-y interfaces—for Chuck. Based on the unique and addictive Web site alone (which is not 100 percent complete yet), and regardless of the significant buzz that’s preceding its debut, I predict that Chuck is going to catch on with audiences like a red-hot wildfire.

Bionic Woman
