Memorial Day Weekend Marathons for TV Buffs
Networks Provide Viewers with Some Serious TV Fodder for the Three-Day Weekend
And when I say “serious,” I mean in variety, not necessarily tone. Memorial Day is traditionally a holiday designated specifically to remember deceased members of the military who served in any and all wars. For those saddled or blessed—choose whichever one works for you—with a lengthy three-day weekend as a result of the observance, it’s also a time when networks try to preserve some semblance of decent ratings with all sorts of marathons. There’s the by-now requisite Law & Order showings on at least two networks (this time around Bravo, TNT, and USA), not to mention USA’s predictable Monkathon. What people may not realize is that every network from basic-cable’s well-known A&E to its more obscure WE is in on the festivities, too. Here’s a list of who’s playing what and when this long holiday weekend:
