‘Kings’ Woes Just Keep on Coming

Series Yanked All Together

Well, it looks like I and all the other latecomers better rush over to NBC.com or Hulu to catch Kings before the drama completely disappears from the face of the planet. The Futon Critic reports today that NBC has pulled the show from the network’s schedule entirely, leaving its current Saturday-night time slot the new home of various crime procedural repeats.

This news arrives after Kings aired on Saturday just one time, following an earlier banishment from its original Sundays at 8pm ET time slot. How’s that for an “Ouch!”?

Of course, it doesn’t take much to guess the rationale for the sudden and swift exile. The culprit was predictably lousy ratings equal to an 0.6 rating among adults aged 18 to 49, which was less than the 0.9 and 0.7 earned by Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Southland repeats immediately afterwards. They don’t call the Saturday primetime hours death slots for no reason, folks.

To be sure I get the chance to see what apparently everybody’s been missing, I think I’ll make a marathon of the five Kings episodes broadcast to date this weekend. Hopefully, they’ll still be online then.
