‘Happy Town’ Goes Bye-Bye

Burn-Off Set for June

Happy Town

I know, I know — it seems Happy Town‘s banishment was bound to happen eventually considering the suspense newbie’s dismal ratings and equally dismal critical reviews.

Now ABC’s schedule has revealed the show’s impending removal from its current Wednesday nights at 10pm ET time slot, according to The Futon Critic. The website reports the network’s latest programming information indicates new episodes of Happy Town will not air on May 19 and 26, as previously expected, a decision made after just two installments premiered.

Instead, the series will air this week on May 12 and then go on a two-week break. It will return on Wednesday, June 2, to burn off its remaining five episodes, which include the June 30 first season finale.

No surprises there, but as a suspense junkie, I still wish things had turned out better for the newcomer and its terrific cast member Amy Acker. I suppose official cancellation is just a matter of time, too.

  1. we loved harpers’ island and are just getting into happy town, it’s just getting into it’s suspenseful stage and we are looking forward to the rest of the series, please do not cancel these pre-summer murder-mysteries

    1. Unfortunately, ABC has canceled Happy Town, Jim and Yolanda. But at least the network plans to air all of the completed episodes, which is about the best outcome viewers can hope for when a show gets axed after just a few episodes.
