Fresh ‘Reaper’ Video Clips and a Cool Widget, Too
Online Promotional Blitz Continues as Premiere Approaches
At one point earlier this summer, I actually thought that ABC’s Pushing Daisies deserved designation as the Fall 2007 season’s second most heavily publicized series, only taking a backseat to NBC’s Bionic Woman promotional behemoth, of course. The tables have turned in recent weeks, however, with The CW giving the Alphabet Network—and everybody else—a major run for the title. I’ll never claim to have a clue how network executives decide which series deserve more or less of their time and effort. But, one thing is clear: The CW believes it has a potential hit in Reaper (and I couldn’t agree or hope more), and it’s going all out to make sure people are excited about the series premiere on September 25.
As a result of this massive push, below, find three new video clips and a pretty handy multipurpose widget that serves as a countdown clock, video player, and wallpaper download tool, as well. Heck, it seems so functional, the widget might even pay your bills and record your favorite TV shows—or at least Reaper—when you’re out.
The supernatural dramedy Reaper follows the weirdly crazy life of Sam Oliver (Bret Harrison), a young career slacker who discovers on his 21st birthday that his parents have always been so lenient with him because they sold his soul to the devil before he was born. Now charged with serving as a bounty hunter for the Big Red One (Ray Wise), Sam must face his fate while learning how to hunt down souls escaped from Hell in order to return them to their rightful place. Good or not for him, he also has a stable of friends to lend a hand during his many misadventures.
Reaper premieres September 25 on The CW with a supporting cast that includes Tyler Labine (Invasion) as Sam’s best slacker friend Bert “Sock” Wysocki, Missy Peregrym (Heroes) as his co-worker crush Andi, Allison Hossack (Falcon Beach) as his mother, Andrew Airlie (The L Word) as his father, Kyle Switzer (15/Love) as his younger brother Kyle, Rick Gonzalez (Coach Carter) as his other slacker pal Ben, and Valarie Rae Miller (Dark Angel) as Sock’s ex Josie.
