‘Entertainment Weekly’ Salutes Top Fansites

Indiana Jones Is a Much-Loved Man

Harrison Ford/Indiana Jones

Thank heavens for Entertainment Weekly. I was sitting here scratching my head, trying my darnedest to come up with a topic for a TV post at a time when there’s not much of anything interesting going on in the television industry, when I suddenly gave up and decided to read some feeds. Then, there it was in the EW folder, a post titled “Countdown! 25 Best Fansites.”

How could I resist, especially since I’d wasted a good portion of the morning unsuccessfully scrounging around the Web for some comedy-related fansites to add to the blogroll at my comedy television blog? If nothing else, that exercise in near futility taught me that well-written, consistently updated, and legibly designed fansites are a hard thing to come by. Thus, EW just made life a lot easier not only for me, but for many entertainment fans who frequent cyberspace.

So, which Internet destinations did the EW gods deem the best of the best, the crème of the crop, the fansites that outdo all fansites? I’ll excerpt the Top Ten here, and you can find the rest in the original post “25 Essential Fansites.” Needless to say, tv|jots is nowhere to be found.

  1. Would you consider doing a piece on Vampire High, I totally love this show. The first time I heard of it, I thought it is just another run of the mill Vampire shows just like Buffy, but what a breath of fresh air it was totally different to what I expected. But I suppose because it is a Canadian Production that you won’t take a look at it, but who know’s. And I just got introduced to it last year only because of digital TV and would dearly love to know more about it

    1. Jo, thanks for the lead on Vampire High! I’d never heard of the show before, so I just did a little investigating at Amazon.com and Netflix. Only one DVD is available at Netflix, but I put it in my queue to check out later. The series sounds like something that would be right up my alley.

  2. Just dropped in to see if you had managed to find something about Vampire High, I am truly smitten with this Canadian series and would dearly love to more.

    1. No, Jo, I haven’t had a chance to check out Vampire High yet. The current television season is in full swing right now in the States, so I can barely keep up with those shows. I wish a network like the Sci Fi Channel would syndicate it over here, which would make watching much easier for me. Thanks for reminding me about it, though.
