Fans of USA Network’s most recent crop of summer original series have absolutely nothing to worry about at the moment. Every single one of the shows will return for another season, now that the network has just renewed rookie Necessary Roughness, along with more seasoned Covert Affairs and Royal Pains.

The trio join Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, Suits, and White Collar, which received the good pickup news earlier. All but two of the shows have 16-episode orders for their next run. The notable exceptions are Burn Notice, which will include 16 to 18 episodes in its upcoming sixth season, and In Plain Sight, which will come to an end with an 8-episode fifth and final season.

2012 is looking great on USA Network!

Entertaining USA Network spy drama Covert Affairs caps its hit freshman season with the “I Can’t Quit You Baby” and “When the Levee Breaks” double-episode finale, premiering tonight, September 14, from 9pm to 11pm ET.

The first episode focuses on Annie’s trip to London in order to infiltrate a smuggling crew, while Joan and Arthur butt heads over Henry Wilcox’s return to the CIA back in the States. Next, the season finale finds mysterious Ben Mercer willingly turning himself in to the CIA, which leads to a joint assignment in Sri Lanka for him and Annie so that they can locate one of his old assets.

Also Notable on September 14

Drama One Tree Hill opens its impressive eighth season on The CW at 8pm, followed by the second-season premiere of fantastic teen dramedy Life Unexpected at 9pm.

Over on NBC, funny and moving family dramedy Parenthood kicks off its second season at 10pm.

Finally, the (few) fans of rookie Comedy Central comedy Big Lake can catch its two-episode season finale starting at — Yikes! — 6pm. I guess it’s safe to assume there’s no sophomore run in store for the series.

Rookie USA Network spy series Covert Affairs presents the new episode “Fool in the Rain” on September 7 at 10pm ET. Following the broadcast, the show will have only one airing left for the summer, which is the September 14 two-hour, double-episode finale from 9pm to 11pm.

The latest adventures of Annie Walker involve an America-loving Iranian delegate who decides to use his trip to a Toronto conference as an opportunity to give the CIA stolen intelligence in exchange for a new life in the United States. Sounds easier than it probably is.

The last day of August brings “What Is and What Should Never Be,” the latest new episode of USA Network spy series Covert Affairs, which closes its first season on September 14.

The installment features the return of Annie’s mysterious past hookup Ben Mercer (Eion Bailey, ER), who arrives in town after Annie investigates a fishy transaction she witnessed during an art auction.

Christopher Gorham‘s deservedly popular Covert Affairs character Auggie Anderson takes center stage during the spy show’s fresh August 24 episode called “Communication Breakdown.”

When the blind handler receives a field assignment to help thwart a hacker threatening communications systems in Washington, D.C., he’s not so thrilled after he realizes the code jockey in question is actually his former girlfriend Natasha Petrova. Oops!

Three previews for “Communication Breakdown” follow. A brand-new episode of crime series White Collar precedes at 9pm ET. Titled “Prisoner’s Dilemma,” it features a guest-star appearance by fabulous Eureka regular Joe Morton.

Best news of the week thus far: USA Network has wisely decided to pick up freshman spy show Covert Affairs for a sophomore run.

That means series star Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly) will return as promising CIA operative Annie Walker, along with her equally fabulous costars Anne Dudek (House), Peter Gallagher (The O.C.), Christopher Gorham (Ugly Betty), Kari Matchett (Invasion), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes).

In the USA Network press release announcing the renewal news, the network makes a point of highlighting the original series’ impressive ratings up to this point during its rookie season.

Standout accomplishments include being the top new series of 2010 among viewers aged 18 to 49, and earning its highest ratings to date in several demographics during the most recent episode, August 17th’s “House of the Holy.” Couldn’t have happened to a more entertaining Summer 2010 show.

Fun freshman USA Network spy show Covert Affairs is still pulling out all the guest-star stops on its new August 10 episode “In the Light,” which features ER alum Eriq La Salle and 24 alum Gregory Itzin.

The next dangerous assignment for rookie CIA spy Annie Walker has her seeking out a former CIA spook named Christopher McAuley (La Salle), who might be able to help her locate Hasaan Waleed, a Sudanese firearms dealer reportedly about to ship some of his product. Unfortunately, Annie and her current colleagues aren’t the only people interested in Waleed. Apparently, Henry Wilcox (Itzin), the old head of Clandestine Services, and even Ben Mercer are, too.

Sleeper Cell and Charmed veteran Oded Fehr guest stars on the brand-new August 3 episode of USA Network spy drama Covert Affairs called “No Quarter.”

The Mummy saga actor plays Eyal, a Mossad operative who teams up with Annie in Zurich, Switzerland, when she’s left all by her lonesome after an assignment goes wrong. Too bad for her, then, that Eyal isn’t exactly the trustworthy type, so Annie must remain patient — and alive — while Auggie does his best to return her to the United States. Elsewhere, Joan and Arthur attempt to find out which insider has been leaking confidential CIA intel.

Freshman USA Network spy drama Covert Affairs is taking viewers along on a mini-vacation to Venezuela during the fresh July 27 episode called “South Bound Suarez.”

The latest dangerous case for rookie CIA operative Annie Walker requires her to convince a young college student to lend a helping hand so she and her boss can get insider information about crooked government employees in Venezuela. As difficult as that seems, the situation becomes even more complicated when one of Annie’s colleagues, who was also assigned to the case, gets killed. Another day in the twisted life of an American spook.
