Catching Up with ‘Kyle XY’
The Bellybutton-Less Boy Returns to the Tube
Starting tonight at 8pm EST and continuing on each subsequent Monday for the next couple of months, ABC Family is gifting viewers with the most welcomed opportunity to relive all ten episodes of Kyle XY‘s phenomenal debut season. In case your brain has checked out for a quick coffee break or you just never were in the know, Kyle XY is the sneaky little sci-fi series that crept up on television audiences last summer and beguiled them with the tale of a nameless teenage boy (Matt Dallas) sans any memories who wandered out of the woods near Seattle, Washington, buck-naked one day, right into the initially skeptical, but eventually loving arms of the typically American Trager family.
Over the course of each installment, we learned more and more about Kyle’s mysterious background, which indicated that the boy with the amazing blue eyes was created rather than born. Still, we didn’t care much about that interesting detail because as he grew increasingly accustomed to his new life around pesky humans—including the Tragers themselves: psychologist mom Nicole (Marguerite McIntyre), businessman dad Stephen (Bruce Thomas), and teenage children Lori (April Matson) and Josh (Jean-Luc Bilodeau)—Kyle revealed himself to be one of the most charming, intelligent, compassionate, and endearing “beings” anywhere.
The freshman season ended with Kyle leaving the Tragers to live with his fake real parents, the Petersons, a predicament that fans are eager to see resolved when the thirteen-episode second season arrives this summer on June 11. Until then, the informed can relive the wonders of Season One, while newcomers can experience the incredibly entertaining adventures they missed out on the first time around.
