‘Castle’ Gets Deserved Third Season
Cool Crime Dramedy on a Ratings Roll

Not much makes me happier than when one of my favorite TV shows that started as an underdog begins to climb in the ratings and catch fire. The only thing better is when its network takes notice and picks up the series for another season, as has just happened with ABC’s consistently entertaining Monday-night dramedy Castle.
Today (March 30), ABC announced the network’s very wise decision to give Castle a much-deserved third season. The show just finished airing a hugely successful two-parter featuring lead Nathan Fillion‘s former Desperate Housewives co-star Dana Delany, which brought the series its highest ratings ever of 14.5 million viewers.
Castle‘s next run will include 22 episodes (as of now), as compared to the current sophomore season’s 24 installments, so join me in giving Fillion and his colleagues a huge round of applause. I knew the show was worthy of becoming a hit after watching the very first episode, and it’s great to see that prediction coming true.
Castle currently airs Mondays on ABC at 10pm ET

I totally agree! Castle is fun and refreshing. When Tom Bergeron played a dead TV host, the ratings soared. Nathan Fillion was on Jimmy Kimmel live and said that the show had been picked up for a third season. When I watched the show last week, the announcer said that next week’s show was part of the FINAL season.
Why? We have dark, disturbing dramas, procedural crime scene dramas, and mindless, humorless half hour comedies.
Please don’t cancel this show!! Anyone want to start a petition?
Castle is NOT going anywhere anytime soon, Kris, trust me. There will definitely be a third season with 22 whole episodes, minimum, in 2010-2011 or else ABC is gonna have some MAJOR explaining to do to a LOT of very angry viewers and critics. I’m certain the announcement you say you heard was either a mistake or possibly misheard.
‘Castle’ needs to drop character Demming before this turns into another ‘Moonlighting’ ratings distaster.
Yeah, I’m not feeling Demming and the entire “romantic triangle” angle either, Peter. He was an okay addition during his first episode and, of course, it’s always pleasant to look at Michael Trucco, the actor who plays him. But I believe Castle could do much better when it comes to storylines. Hopefully, the writers and show runners will realize that soon, too, and find a more interesting and original way to add tension to Castle and Beckett’s relationship.
