‘Battlestar Galactica’ Fans: Choose the ‘Razor’ DVD Cover Now
Highly Anticipated November 24 Telefilm Lands in Stores December 4
Basic cable’s Sci Fi Channel is not playing around these days. First, the network released a limited-edition Flash Gordon DVD on August 14 featuring the pilot and assorted extras just four days after the series premiered. And now it’s in the process of holding an online contest that allows ever-passionate Battlestar Galactica fans to select their preferred cover for the DVD release of November’s sure-to-be-spectacular Battlestar Galactica: Razor film.
In a press announcement distributed yesterday (thanks to TVShowsOnDVD.com for spreading the word and joy), Universal Studios revealed not only that it will release Battlestar Galactica: Razor Unrated Extended Edition on December 4, 2007, a mere ten days after the movie’s November 24 debut, but also that the DVD’s cover will feature the artwork deemed best by voters who chose their favorite from among three options.
To get in on the fun and help make BSG history, simply visit the special Razor Web site and tick the circle that matches your preference. My personal pick is Cover A above, which sports a nice, large-proportioned image of the movie’s two grrrl-power stars: Michelle Forbes, reprising her central role as Battlestar Pegasus’ Admiral Helena Cain, and series newcomer Stephanie Chaves-Jacobsen, who portrays Kendra Shaw, the Pegasus officer Commander Lee “Apollo” Adama (Jamie Bamber) taps to become his Executive Officer after he assumes control of the ship following Cain’s demise.
After voting for your own fave, Sci Fi will grant access to a special video clip available stateside only. But, keep in mind, however, that voting is not indefinite—the polls close at 12am PST on September 7, and the winning cover will be announced on September 14.
The Razor DVD, with a suggested retail price of $26.98, will also include deleted scenes, commentary tracks with series creators David Eick and Ron Moore, and three behind-the-scenes segments: “The Look of Battlestar Galactica,” “My Favorite Episode So Far,” and “Sneak Peek into Season Four with Creators David Eick and Ron Moore.”
