Wanda Sykes Shares the Perfect Pastime
I just caught the tail end of Wanda Sykes‘ most recent appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Based on the little birthday montage that the hilarious Emmy-winning actress and comedian put together for her fellow funny lady (Happy 49th, Ellen—you look great!), it seems that Sykes is a fairly frequent guest. As people who tell jokes for a living often do, the pair spent a lot of time discussing recent events in the entertainment industry, such as Grey’s Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington’s difficulty refraining from uttering homophobic epithets in public and the surging 15 Minutes of Fame experienced by 23-year-old Kenneth Briggs, the (un)lucky Seattle auditioner who was called a bush baby by American Idol‘s resident jerk, Simon Cowell.
Of course, discussion of Fox’s mega popular talent competition eventually led to mention of its other infamous judge, Paula Abdul. Sykes summed up her opinion of the beverage lover’s questionable behavior perfectly when she described the drinking game she plays while watching the show: Whenever Abdul takes a sip, she takes a sip. Now I know exactly what I’ve got to do to take the nasty edge off when I tune in to American Idol again next week. Thanks for sharing, Wanda.
