AMC Sweetens Halloween with ‘Walking Dead’ Premiere
Holiday Just Got Way Better

Yesterday, August 24, basic-cable network AMC made the announcement we’ve all been waiting for: its latest original series, comic-book adaptation The Walking Dead, will bow on Sunday, October 31, at 10pm ET. Even better, the premiere will be an extended 90-minute episode instead of a regular hourlong installment.
Directed and written by Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption) and executive-produced by Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd (Aliens, The Terminator saga), The Walking Dead is based on Robert Kirkman‘s original Image Comics comic book series of the same name. The drama focuses on small-town cop Rick Grimes (English actor Andrew Lincoln of the United Kingdom comedy Teachers, pictured above), who becomes the leader of the few people fortunate enough to survive a so-called zombie apocalypse.
Other notable stars of the series during its six-episode first season include Jon Bernthal (The Class), Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), Jeffrey DeMunn (Law & Order), Laurie Holden (The X Files), Lennie James (Jericho), and Michael Rooker (Thief).
Now that you have the basic details, check out what The Walking Dead is all about in the fantastic, nearly five-minute trailer below. C-A-N-N-O-T wait!
